Thinking Of Quality

If you are thinking of quality then welcome to a website, blog, business or a group of individuals dedicated to quality. Our quality is defined first by our un-dying love for our Creator, followed by our desire to follow Him in everything we do. How does this pertain to food or fitness? I am glad you asked!

If you knew me you would understand that for me quality is more than a slogan, its a desire to change every area of my life to be a servant of God and from there apply quality to my relationships, business practices, diet, and daily life. To do this I must apply myself to every situation no matter the complexity or who is involved. This is a labor of love done for Gods glory not my own. It is also a very difficult thing to do in any given thing that may interrupt our lives.

Why am I stating this? Because I want you to know that in everything seek Him! Even in diet and exercise, especially in diet and exercise. This is the foundations on which whole health is formed, well in my mind that is. Applying biblical principles to your body are a privilege that we should be honored to be a part of.

Understanding this, will help you not only achieve your goals but achieve them with quality no matter what they are. Whole health starts with loving God! I had a weekend that reminded me of this and has made my heart heavy thinking about friends that are having trouble in different areas of their lives. Whether you know God and go into a situation that you never thought you would enter into or blaming Him for your short comings. He is still God and deserves everything including praise, we are deserving of nothing not even health. There are no guarantees this much is for sure, but the love of God is a place to let yourself fall into with utter disregard for self and the thoughts of others. Take peace and live if you love God!

Get to know God in a personal way, making prayer and meditation with Him your first priority above everything else. He will give you resolve and peace in whatever you do so long as you are committed to Him.

Have a great day!

Motivation, A Valuable Resource

There are all kinds of motivations and I would like to address them in this order, spiritual, physical and mental. I like to this because your priority should always be spiritual first, then you can fill in the blank with your second and third.

Finding the right motivation is key to surviving in this world as it pertains to faith and physical ability. Spiritually speaking what motivates you? Is it:
- Relationships
- Growth
- Passions
- Money
- Job

You will notice that some of those items have nothing to do with spirituality, that was on purpose. Those are the things that get in the way of our motivation or the Motivator himself. I have written about this in the past and I feel it to be addressable again for many reasons. One reason is that we will let anything get in our way, if it is big enough, which is quite a statement when you consider how big our God is.

The second reason is we have goals in this life that have nothing to do with God or growth, is this a bad thing? It can be very bad to strive for and achieve goals away from God, knowingly or not. This will have you making millions of dollars or achieve fame, maybe just being recognized for all your hard work. What ever the reason, without a grasp on the reality of Christ you will achieve these "little" things as they cower to the God of all creation. You will be left empty searching and groping for happiness that does not exist with out spiritual motivation.

Self anylisis is one way to figure out what you are putting in front of God, an accountability partner is also a good way to keep your motivations in the right place. We spend a lot of time feeling sorry for ourselves when we should be on our faces before God evaluating our steps and making sure that they are ordered of Him.

Physical motivation comes at a premium, but its worth it. With the right type of motivation you can achieve some pretty amazing things. Like a promotion, a degree, your best time in a marathon, or serving your community. Physical motivation is more than just a good word from a friend, it is accountability.
Without accountability we waiver and resist our on motivation giving in early and not committing to excellence.

I happen to specialize in both types of motivation, notice I didn't say all three? The third area of motivation is mental, but I bet you didn't know that this one is well controlled by your spirituality? Maybe you did, either way having the right type of motivation in a personal trainer/nutrition specialist is quite rare.

This is why we are not only seeking God for ways to get the word out but continuing our education and spiritual motivation within. This will be reflective in the clients that we see and intern graduate from us with a renewed spirit, body and mind. I love my job and I am humbled by the people that come through this business. My growth has happened a lot through them, God is good.

If you have you motivations aligned what you are seeking will soon be revealed, but you must understand that you will have to walk through the valley of death. It will be hard, so get motivated, get accountable and be strong for the only reason to be strong, Jesus!

Did You Have Your Greens Today?

Did you know that eating your greens will help you lose weight and will even increase the density of your muscle? Its true you can eat your way thin by increasing your green content. How? Well I am glad you asked, you can do it many of different ways one of which is to replace a whole meal with a green selection.

Like taking lunch and having a massive salad, I know what you are thinking "ah man a salad, I will be hungry again in an hour". Well whether this is true or not depends on the person and the salad, you can dress it up a bit make it stick to your ribs. Add extra virgin organic olive oil, hard boiled egg, turkey bacon and strawberries just to name a few.

Next way is to supplement your greens, which is one of the things I like to do. By using an organic solution to this problem you are ensuring that you are getting the highest quality of greens from the purest source around. Doing this will make you feel awesome, it beats a cup of coffee any day of the week. There are supplements from Garden of Life and LivingFuel if you would like to know more well keep reading.

Then lastly make sure you have at least two serving of greens with dinner. Its only natural to eat a lot of green vegetables, your body was designed for it! Our ancestors did it and lived healthier lives, its true and documented you should do some research on it. If you are struggling to lose weight and you feel like you can't eat any better then you do, well I assure you you can! By eating more greens or going green for an entire week or two weeks if you think you are tough. Then watch the fat melt away, your welcome.

Check out this fine green supplement from living fuel!

Vision

I have been pursing my niche in this business with passion and a heart for God. I have also been very blessed with great clients that I have learned a lot from. This has brought me to a point where I want to change my goals in this business. Now if you will allow me I will share them with you in part.

I am gearing up to change the business name to Life Fitness Academy this name I think will be more of a representation of what I hope to do. Which is whole health, this is not that uncommon because I have been doing it anyway, but the business model is way different. We are looking to move to a new location where we can provide all the essentials in whole health care plus some other luxuries like maybe an organic juice and coffee bar. The goal here is to get into a place where we can educate people using holistic principle found in the Bible.

Doing this will allow for us to provide child care and do some more with whole food supplementation as well as have the gym open for zumba, boot camp and maybe yoga classes not to mention you can come in and get a work out when ever you want for a small monthly fee.

This vision I believe is from God and he will make the way straight as the doors open and the right building is found he will provide the money, equipment and the clients. I share this with you for your prayers and your support, if this idea sounds like it would be beneficial to you or you want to help out please let me know. God will do this its only a matter of time, thanks for reading and praying!

How Adequate Is Your Nutrient Level?

Did you know that approximately two-thirds of the standard American diet is made up of unhealthy fats and refined sugars having low or no nutrient density? That means the remaining one-third of the average diet has to somehow compensate for what is lacking. The fact is that the rest of the diet is probably not from nutrient-dense food either and cannot possibly fully meet a person’s nutrient needs.

But that’s not all. Nutrient deficiencies can rob the body of its health and can contribute to aging, while weakening the body’s overall physiological and psychological performance. More specifically, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) found that a significant percentage of the older U.S. population falls well below the U.S. Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for the following:

Vitamin E (nearly 80% are below)
Vitamin C (over 40% are below)
Vitamin B-6 (nearly 70% are below)
Calcium (over 70% are below)
Magnesium (over 80% are below)
Zinc (87% are below)
Iron (over 35% are below)

Typical diets also contain less than 80% of the RDA for calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, and manganese—and the people most at risk are teenage girls and adult women.

Did you know, too, that there is a widespread vitamin D deficiency? And while the words inadequate intake or deficiency may appear benign, their implications are unsettling. For example, a deficiency in vitamin D can result in malabsorption of nutrients, low bone density, increased risk of fractures, failing skeletal health, and more.

Additionally, a vitamin C deficiency can result in scurvy, increased muscle damage after exercising, and increased skin damage. An inadequate intake of vitamin A, beta-carotene, iodine, and zinc can adversely affect thyroid function.

And did you know that vitamin B6 plays an essential role in many metabolic processes in the body, such as nervous system development and functioning? It’s true—so you don’t want to come up short on that, either.

Here’s the takeaway: Past and recent studies indicate that there are numerous benefits to receiving the full spectrum of vitamins and minerals in the diet. Lacking in even one or a few can have potential serious health ramifications. Perhaps the sobering aspect of many studies’ findings, however, is that many of us may be deficient or have inadequate intakes of necessary vitamins and minerals and may not even be aware of it.

One great way to get more vitamins and minerals into your diet is to include nutrient-dense, whole, organic foods. Unlike our standard American diet, nutrient-dense foods can deliver a vitamin-packed and mineral-packed wallop. As an added step, you can take a daily multivitamin to support adequate nutrient intake—as major health agencies, such as the American Medical Association and the American Dietetic Association, recommend.

Not all supplements are created equal, however, so be sure to choose wisely. In everything from dosages, Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs), to the manufacturing process for supplements, you need to become as informed as possible prior to adding a supplement regimen to your lifestyle.

And, as always, you should consult your health professional prior to making any health-related decision.

Injuries?

So,have you ever had an injury? Yeah me too, I recently re-injured my back. I hurt it years ago when I worked in a sand paper factory. I was the "slitter" operator and had to put on and take off multiple rolls of heavy sand paper. I would do this day in and day out, but back then (7 years ago) I was not of the same mind that I am today. There was no whole food diet, there was no regular workout routine, and there was no knowledge of prescription drugs.

I hurt my back by turning and lifting at the same time and it hurt really bad, I had to go to the emergency room and could hardly drive there. I was bent over in a lot of pain, I was told that I had a severe muscle strain, which basically means I over stretched my muscle. I was given pain killers and muscle relaxers and told not to go back to work for a week. One week turned into two weeks and by week three I was back to work. I was back on light duty for 6 weeks and still had to take muscle relaxers. This is the same injury that I hurt again last week.

What's different now is that I have a very clean system and haven't had any foreign chemicals or drugs since that day. I also work out quite regularly but the most important thing is I knew exactly what to do. I spent a lot of time stretching the day of the injury and then went home and rested. I also started a regiment of horse chestnut mixed with some other potent herbs. I was better in just two days and now 5 days later I am back to 100% lifting weights and ridding my bike like before.

Don't let your diagnoses be no more living, do some research and find an alternative. Also remember that nothing replaces a whole food diet, a clean system, regular exercise and a hunger to find a better way to treat your body!

Addicted To Fitness

There are only a few things that are Ok to be addicted to: Bible, Family and Fitness. In that order of course! Being addicted to fitness is what I want to address today.

Having an affective fitness routine is very beneficial but only if you can pull it off everyday. A successful way to make this happen is to have a trainer. And no this isn't a plug for personal training...Ok wait, maybe it is but not without good reason. You see having a trainer will motivate you to accomplish your goals in a timely manner. Depending on your goals a trainer can get you addicted to a healthy fitness regiment by pushing you past your perceptions. If you can do this for long enough you will see benefits as well as results that will become your fuel.

If motivation is what you need then you can find it in a trainer, but don't depend on a trainer have a goal to start taking the leadership reigns from your trainer in due time. This is what I do with my clients, my goal is to get them addicted to fitness but also educate them to understand what the foods are doing to their bodies. I have had much success with this style of training and I am enjoying watching my clients get to their goals with excitement and results.

So if you are thinking about losing weight, sports training, muscle toning or nutrition counseling please let me know and I will accommodate you any way I can.

Optimal Health

Optimal health is an amazing thing to strive for and it can be down if you are tremendously disciplined, and you have the resources to make it happen. Some of the resources are money, time and of course the right information. I have people who come to me and say "I eat really good" or "I feel like my eating is great" or "I don't need help at all with diet at all" the last one is the worst one. If you are one of these people then you need to realize that we all can eat better even me!

This is a common misconception among many clients and trainers alike, strictness is just that stripping down and committing to a whole no way of eating. You can do this to detox, lose weight or to gain the cut and muscle definition that you have been searching for. The key thing to remember here is that we all need help with eating better, there is no way that you can possibly get all of your needed nutrients in one day. That's where knowing what supplements are right for you come in but, this can be over whelming as well.

It can also make life a lot easier when it come to getting the right nutrients for your body. This is another way I try to help clients out, some comply others see no need. If you want to succeed you must do everything with in your control to get the desired results. It seem like common sense but I battle with conventional knowledge, the information given to us all through life from the Tv, government, as well as other type of media. Must of which is not thoroughly researched not to mention the fact that you only hear half of the truth or none at all.

Striving for optimal health should be at the top of your to do list, if for no other reason than to not be a burden to those who you love. If it is with in your control it is your responsibility, but if you need help we can help you. Be open and willing to make some hard decisions and break the cycle. www.nashvillepersonaltrainer.net

The Spiritual Side

I have spent some time with a few friends this week and I hear things that make me ask "what I am I doing with my life?" Its seems that we as Christ followers spend a lot of time asking God for help, and thats ok but maybe we should be asking Him "what can I do to serve you?"

As People we naturally want a job or relationship that is full filling, I think this is only human of us. But the problem lies in the obsession over why it isn't happening right now. We serve a great and mighty God who has already said that you are worth more than the sparrows, and that we will judge angels in heaven. Why do we forget who we are? Children of the only living God, set a part by His love and grace. Where is the peace? Why so much pain when the God we serve loves us?

I know what refining feels like, when you are limited in what you can do about your circumstances and you want out or you need love or money. I know what it feels like, but this is the refining process and the fact that we are loved enough to be refined is an honor. God will never give you more than you can handle, but more so you have Him to fall into. Whether it be to fall in love, or you need peace, or you have no direction what so ever. Let Christ be who you need Him to be, and remember why you are hear or better yet why He died for you. He loves us, unconditionally, and will never stop caring. There is so much peace in that if you just sit and think about it, real peace not peace like you hear in the movies or from dignitaries. The very definition or the word points to God, and He deserves our trust.

In the area of love, if you can't love the Lord like no other than this could be a reason that your time hasn't come. Let Christ love you and love Him in return stop spending so much time wanting something you already have. Show Him you that you love Him by never doubting that He has you. Are you romantic with your love for Christ? Let Him in, I mean really let Him in, change what you have to change to get closer to your Savior.

This leads me to self analysis, which is what I need to do a lot. Asking God what I am doing that is coming in between us, then ask Him to guide me as to how and remove it from my life. God is good and wants to be closer to you so why not ask Him to help you see what is holding you back instead of being angry and asking "why can't I have what so and so has?" If you do this be ready for it to be revealed and receive it with an open heart, because your life is about to change.

I hope this helps some people out there, I felt the Lord tugging on my heart for this for 2 days so here it is. I know you may not think that this has a lot to do with personal training but it has everything to do with whole health and that IS what I do. I want to help you where ever it is that you are how ever Christ allows me to do so, I am grateful for the opportunity to do so and will, where ever I can.
